Carolyn's Story

Carolyn Peter has written nonfiction for years and has recently taken the leap into fiction, writing a historic novel focused on one of the inventors of photography. As a curator and art historian, she has an expertise in nineteenth-century French art and the history of photography. She has been fortunate to work with incredible art collections in museums across the United States and in London, England. She has a BA in French from the University of California, Berkeley and an MA in Art History in Nineteenth- and Early-Twentieth Century French and British Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London.
Carolyn was an avid member of her local public library's Story Hour from age 4. She joined the library’s summer reading club as soon as she learned to read and remembers being mesmerized by children’s author Zilpha Snyder when she came to speak. At age 10, Carolyn created a circulating library with her friend in the basement of her family home. She also penned a play about gentle giants in 6th grade, directing and performing it with fellow sixth graders for the kindergarten class. Her mother planted a seed long ago when she told Carolyn she could write a book someday.
